The Bookie Files: Radley-Hiles to Florida?

A tweet goes out showing an image of Nebraska commit Bookie Radley-Hiles wearing a Florida cap during IMG Academy’s Media Day. The Husker Internet Legion then proceeds to freak. The Heck. Out.

Welcome to the wonderful world of recruiting.

Yes, Nebraska fans have worked themselves into a frothy panic and it would be easy to shrug my shoulders and say “well, that’s the recruiting game for you.” Maybe Bookie’s really back on the market and considering options besides the Huskers. Nothing wrong with that per se. His college choice is just that — his.

Business is business and that’s that, right? There’s just…one more thing.

Radley-Hiles has been committed to Mike Riley and the University of Nebraska since his sophomore year of high school. It’s no secret that he’s probably one of the best recruiters currently associated with Nebraska outside of anyone on staff. He has the ears of recruits the quality of Micah Parsons and Houston Griffith.

The hiring of Donte Williams is worth bringing up, too. He isn’t just one of the finest recruiters that the Husker football staff has to offer. It turns out he’s also a pretty good coach.

HuskersOnline’s Nate Clouse did an interview with Radley-Hiles last April around the time of the Red-White Spring Game and some quotes are worth pointing out.

“A lot of people really don’t know it, but I’ve been committed since my sophomore year last spring,” Radley-Hiles said. “Me and Coach (Mike) Riley kept that to ourselves this whole time. It’s all been a great ride, but this is where I’m supposed to be.

“I’m a firm believer that God makes no mistakes. I wasn’t even supposed to come on the trip the first time we ever visited. I just happened to get lucky and get on the plane and that was actually the time that I first got to Nebraska, met Coach Riley and I committed. It was meant to be.”

There’s also his friendships with Tristan Gebbia, Keyshawn Johnson Jr., Tyjon Lindsey and Marquel Dismuke. All are currently on the Husker roster.

Then there’s this:

And this:

If you’re a Husker fan, there’s a pile of evidence that might lead you to exhale and relax.

No one knows what Bookie’s master plan is, but he’s a smart guy. Whatever he’s got cooking, it’ll be fun to watch come to fruition once he signs.

Wherever that is…right?
