In what was probably a commitment a good year-plus in the making, Brendan “Bookie” Radley-Hiles finally committed to the Nebraska football staff.
How big is Bookie’s announcement?
To start, he’s considered the No. 36 overall prospect in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Index. He’s also ranked as the No. 5 cornerback on the entire board.
He originally spent time at both Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman High School before transferring to Calabasas. He would play with several current Nebraska football players there but decided to spend his final high school season at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
If you get an in at IMG, you’re sitting pretty.
Radiley-Hiles’ connections at Nebraska go beyond his former teammates.
He made what could be considered two major visits to Lincoln. One was during last year’s Red-White Spring Game which blew him away. It’s there he began to form his bond with not only head coach Mike Riley, but Riley’s wife Dee, too.
When he visited to compete against the big-time competition during last summer’s final session of Nebraska’s Friday Night Lights camp, he continued to bond with Riley, but found a unique connection with the late Milt Tenopir.
Taking into account who Nebraska beat out for his services continues to show how impressive this get is.
The Huskers won out over Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, USC and many others.

In the long haul, Bookie won’t be the last commit that ultimately comes out of the 2017 Red-White Spring Game. Believe that.
