If you needed one more reason to head to Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium for this week’s Friday Night Lights camp, we may have found it.
Current Oklahoma commit T.J. Pledger seemed at the very least curious when Bob Stoops announced that he was stepping down as head coach of the Sooners. It sounds like Stoops’ departure may have done more damage to Oklahoma’s relationship with Pledger than initially thought.
It doesn’t look like Nebraska is taking a quarterback this class and there’s been talk that there’ll be no running backs, either. As our old buddy Lee Corso would say, not so fast, my friend.
A source close to Pledger not only says he’s visiting Nebraska this week which would obviously mesh with the talent smorgasbord already scheduled to be in Lincoln, but that his commitment to the Sooners isn’t exactly rock solid.
Apparently, the Huskers have jumped back into the fray for his services as have the UCLA Bruins. Oklahoma is allegedly working to secure another visit to Norman in July to help solidify his commitment. In the meantime, he’ll be joining IMG teammate and Nebraska commit Bookie Radley-Hiles at a star-studded event that easily rivals last year’s Big Red Weekend.
Be sure to stay tuned to Eight Laces for more information as it becomes available.
Edit: We can now confirm that Pledger is scheduled to be in Lincoln this weekend.
