Huskers to clash with Knights on Thanksgiving

There’ll be a little Nebrasketball to go with your turkey and pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving. Tim Miles’ squad will open play against the Central Florida Knights in the Advocare Invitational. The contest begins at 5 p.m. and will be carried on ESPN3.

Three starters return for a UCF team that went 24-12 last season. The Knights would reach the semifinals of the NIT before their year ended. Nebraska will face a top defender in American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year junior center Tacko Fall who averaged 10.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game last season.

Guard B.J. Taylor added 17.4 points and 3.5 assists per game to the UCF effort while A.J. Davis had an average offering of 8.3 points per game.

The Big Red boasts nine returning letterwinners including four who started in nine games last year. Glynn Watson Jr., Jack McVeigh, Evan Taylor and Jordy Tshimanga return while transfers Isaac Copeland, James Palmer Jr. and Duby Okeke look to round out the lineup.

Incoming top-150 high school recruits Thomas Allen and Nana Akenten also have a prime opportunity to inject energy into the Huskers’ game.

Nebraska will face either West Virginia or Marist in the tournament’s second round on Nov. 24 with the tournament wrapping up on Nov. 26.
